Designing and a new course from Muy MajoBV

This past month I have been quite busy in designing for a company I am freelancing since last September. Nice projects which I really enjoyed! I love their briefs and they like my style too.

For the moment I am preparing some other designs for a Licensing project and entering design competitions here and there, when I have some time.

Today I enter the Limited Edition Kleenex® Collection Tissue Box competition with a very delicate design called "Ikat Floral" and inspired by the blossom of the roses in the summer and the visual power of ikat, I designed this two colour pattern to enlighten our spaces with warmth and design.

To support my design, you can click here :-) Voting starts April 30th, 2013. THANKS A LOT!

I also entered another competition last week, for a weekly Spoonflower contest. This one entitled "Geek Friends" and inspired in the Lego toys with a twist of cross stitch for this GEEK design!

I also recently enrolled a new course for to create the perfect pattern in Adobe Illustrator starting June 7th and for the great price of $30. You can find more about the course here and about the amazing teacher Muy MajoBV :-)

Have a good week all and keep on designing!!!

EFUTO *** Spring

SPRING
Today is a celebration with myself, a day that makes a difference...and why is so that special?

Today is 1st of March and we have 20 days before SPRING will arrive for good.

So today I decided to join a local Art studio and start drawing for good again because since I left behind my Art studio in Madrid (which I fondly miss) I didn´t do much and it is my passion, what I really love to do. Those couple of hours are the time with myself and my media. The Stevenage Art Centre organize a couple of exhibitions a year where people can sell what they have exhibited, which also will do so good to me.

Last Wednesday I had a coffee with my friend Gwyneth and I think unconsciously, she ignited in me the action to join the Art Studio again as we talked  about art, my designs and to go together to the Letchworth ARTS centre next week so perhaps I can also exhibit there in the future too. I really appreciate people like her in my life.

Today I started a drawing that will become a one of the patterns I am working at the moment for SS14 and also part of a project I am doing with my Print & Pattern group. It is called EFUTO *** Spring and I need to decorate a plain envelope and send it by mail to a person on the list that have been selected randomly.

I will be sending my Efuto to Ludmila Adams and receiving another one from Lisa Rivas :-)

This great project was started by Gill Eggleston last Christmas when I joined the Print & Pattern group and people around the world they were sending beautiful Efutos. If by now you are curious to know what an EFUTO is, you can read more here.

Happy weekend everyone!!!

Great Inspiration: Angie Lewin´s work

One day I was walking in Norwich with some friends and walking into a bookstore I discovered this little jewel: "Angie Lewin: Plants and Places" and I started to dream awake. I love plants, flowers and anything botanical really, so looking through the pages of this printmaking artist living in Norfolk.

The simplicity and the delicacy of her work it is fascinating for me. Her signature is unique and so distinctive and I would love to join one of her workshops if she does them.

Following there are some of the prints I most like it.

I also adore her prints translated in to textiles which you can see in her website... and find her unique work in facebook too :-)

Keep on designing and enjoy the week ahead!

Mimosa Floral

This week has been frantic as I am designing our new website and it is really time consuming in learning Wordpress. However, I know that I will success :-) I like challenges.

In the spot of some free time I did create a beautiful new Floral called Mimosa Floral, which I am a bit surprise with because lately YELLOW is a very attractive colour for me. I start to think in Yellow and not Orange...strange...

Anyway, as I am reading a beautiful book in SHAPES I came across with the simple shape of a circle and as I do love floral patterns, this print started to develop. Later, thinking in the Spring, Kids playing outside and lots of joy, the Mimosa Floral came alive :-)

It is already uploaded in our Society6 online store and we have a promo of Free Worldwide Shipping this Sunday Feb, 24th midnight.  Happy Bright Weekend :-)

Happy Chinese year of the Snake!

amara - Design Trend

2013 is the year of the Snake, the sixth sign of the Chinese zodiac. It is said that people who were born in the year of the snake are reputed to be thoughtful and wise and to approach problems rationally and logically.

Snakes are bang on trend for spring — with the Chinese Year of the Snake starting on February 10.

It is said in ancient Chinese wisdom that ‘a Snake in the house is a good omen’, and interior trends are taking this literally.

Here I collected some images that will serve for some inspiration in our designs and interiors.

Enjoy and keep on designing!
